49% of US job applicants falsify their work history on their resume or job application. In many cases, they intentionally embellish prior responsibilities or accomplishments. Historically, employers have conducted employment verification on job applicants, but this practice will reveal dates of employment only about 70% of the time. Prior employers rarely provide qualitative information about the applicant's demonstrated skills and behaviors.
